Artist Bio

Hi! My name is Cassidy, but feel free to call me Cas. I am currently a studio art student at Florida State University. After graduating, I am planning on moving to New York to work a creative job.

I enjoy making all types of traditional artwork, I find it so fun that I can’t just stick to one. I am also a stylist and creative director, working in fashion and photography.

Other than art, I love my friends and family, animals, and music artists such as David Bowie, Chappell Roan, and Charli xcx.

I grew up in Clearwater, Florida, and I currently reside in Tallahassee.

Meet the artist! - Cassidy Millhouse

Cassidy Millhouse is a multimedia and multidisciplinary artist, focusing in painting, printmaking, and fashion styling work. They also do commission-based work.

Their paintings document their journey of self-discovery and gender identity. Their practice explores the idea of the disconnection of the human body and soul. They create this art to make people feel less alone, to make a change, and to express and dissect their own identity. Most of their inspiration for these pieces comes from their own experience with gender, and a few dark surrealist painters such as Zdzislaw Beksinki and Jon Silent. They often use oil paint in their work and add texture to create dimension. This includes using different types of paste, other materials similar to a collage, or layering paint.

The work they sell is quite different from their personal painting work. They use printmaking to create handmade designs that consist of bright colors and positive messages. Most of these prints include animals and nature and aim to spread joy and knowledge. They also accept commissions, which have ranged from huge Pokémon paintings to small graphite pet portraits.

They do a lot of styling, photography, and creative direction work as well. they’ve worked for two magazines at their college, and always bring a colorful spin on the photoshoots they work on. This includes drawing out outfit and clothes design ideas, using clothing from their own closet, shopping for secondhand sustainable clothes, or even sewing together their own pieces. For the shoots they have directed, they lean toward these colorful images that come together to tell a story of found family in queer spaces.

Cassidy’s artwork is continuously evolving and changing, and they intend to continue expanding their creative horizons.
